Alice F. Vandervoort

Alice Fay VanderVoort 77 of Ryegate, went to be with the Lord on February 20, 2021. Alice was born in Billings Montana on August 13, 1943 to Sam and Florence Smeding. Alice attended Musselshell, Golden Creek School, and graduated from Ryegate Public School in 1962.

She was raised in the Bull Mountains of Musselshell, Montana before going to Ryegate Montana. Alice married Morlee VanderVoort on September 15, 1962 and was blessed with three precious children: Wayde, Mark and Peggy. She was a rancher's wife and helped her husband raise pigs on one of the first pig farms in the county. In 1976 they bought Fish Creek Ranch south of Barber, Montana and started raising cattle and farming.

During her lifetime, Alice helped at her church as church secretary and Sunday School Teacher. You could always find her sewing, baking and reading when she had down time. She was a true cowgirl, always riding her horse and pushing cows from pasture to pasture.

Alice was always ready to help everyone she could along her way. This showed through the most as a loving wife and great momma. She is loved by her family and will be greatly missed.

Alice was preceded in death by her parents, Sam and Florence Smeding; brother, Bud Smeding; and her son, Wayde VanderVoort.

Alice is survived by her husband Morlee VanderVoort; son, Mark VanderVoort; daughter, Peggy (Robert) Everts; 2 grandchildren, Krissy VanderVoort and Cassidy VanderVoort; her aunt, Shirley Thomas and sister-in-law, Lou Rene Sherod.

Funeral Services celebrating Alice's life will be 10:00 A.M. Saturday February 27, 2021 at the Ryegate Gymnasium. Viewing will be one half hour prior to funeral service at the gymnasium. Committal will follow in the Ryegate Cemetery. A reception is being planned and will be announced when known. Perkins Funeral Home is assisting the family.
