Nancy R. Roesler

August 4, 1929 — April 18, 2021

Nancy Ruth (Pitts) Roesler of Harlowton, MT passed away April 18, 2021 at the age of 91 in Wheatland Memorial Nursing Home of natural causes. Nancy was born on August 4, 1929 in Grant City, WI (Platteville Township), on the family farm to Ernest and Kathryn (Burris) Pitts.

Nancy attended Woodchuck Country School through 8th Grade and graduated from Platteville High School in 1947. She attended Finley Hospital School of Nursing in Dubuque, IA where she graduated as a Registered Nurse in 1950.

She met and married her husband, Eugene Roesler on January 29, 1952 in Dubuque, IA. Together, they pastored congregations in Sibley, IA, Lockhart, MN and Brownton, MN where Nancy continued to pursue her Nursing career. In 1960, they adopted their first child, daughter Cindy and added to the family with son David in 1963. The family continued to enjoy the communities of Alberta, MN, Marinette, WI, Mt. Vernon, SD, Bowdle, SD, Mobridge, SD, while in Mobridge Eugene passed away in 1991.  Nancy then moved to Lennox, SD where she retired from Nursing in 1997.  In 2012, Nancy decided to move to Montana, where she and husband Gene had planned to retire. She resided for a short time while with her daughter Cindy and family before locating to the St. John's Lutheran Home in Billings, MT. In 2015, she transferred to Wheatland Memorial Healthcare in Harlowton, MT where she resided until her passing. Nancy's biggest frustration was her Parkinson's and Scoliosis diagnoses' which progressively limited her mobility. However, her mind remained sharp as ever and she frequently advised her caretakers in the medical field.

Nancy enjoyed many hobbies including cooking, sewing, gardening, crossword puzzles and scrabble. She especially enjoyed teaching Sunday School, attending bible study and participating in all church activities. Nancy was also active in the Lennox, SD Senior Center, where she enjoyed many activities, meals and conversation. She made several trips back to Wisconsin to spend time with her family. Nancy's love of history, facts and sports (namely the Green Bay Packers; of which she was a shareholder), however her greatest joy was spending time with her children and their families.

She is survived by daughter Cindy (Greg) Berg of Harlowton, MT; son David (Rhonda) Roesler of Sioux Falls, SD; granddaughter Jamie (Chris) Garhart; granddaughter Gina Berg; grandson Jacob (Tara) Berg; granddaughter Alanna Jo Berg; great-grandchildren Eastyn and Kennedy Garhart, Henry and Dakota Berg; brother Robert Pitts and sister Shirley Pitts as well as many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband Nancy was preceded in death by her parents Ernest & Kathryn and granddaughter Kelly.

So many thanks to all her wonderful caretakers and staff of Wheatland Memorial Healthcare in Harlowton who made her final transition a positive one.  Finally, as our dear mother would have said: "Go Packers!"
