Barbara Jean Wrzesinski Lynn , 93, of Shawmut, MT passed away early Wednesday morning. October 28th, 2026, at Vista Plains Health Care in Harlowton Montana. She was born April 26, 1933, in Rothiemay, Montana a daughter of Walter L. and Helen I. (Spearin) Wrzesinski. She was physically born in her family home in the Snowy Mountains up Swimming Woman Canyon. She attended many of the homestead schools in Golden Valley County graduating from Ryegate High School in 1950. She also was in school in Harlowton for a short time during her elementary years. On June 4, 1950, she was united in marriage to Robert Fochs in Ryegate. They lived in Shawmut and in 1961 he was killed in a train accident with her father and a cousin. Jean continued living in Shawmut and on February 1,1963 she was united in marriage to Herbert Grover Lynn. They made their home and raised their family in Shawmut.
She was a steadfast, faithful member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Harlowton.
Barbara (better known as Jean) enjoyed time with family, playing cards, following her kids and grandkids to athletic events and all their activities, and traveling. She was a lifelong volunteer and caregiver. She helped at the Upper Musselshell Museum, was bookkeeper for many years for the Shawmut Fire Department, worked at the Shawmut post office, brought treats for the students at the Shawmut School especially for holiday parties, she cleaned the Blessed Sacrament Church in Shawmut for Mass, rode the activity bus with Herb driving and helped chaperone, was on a bowling team, and worked as an election judge. She often opened our home to extended family when they needed it. She loved to garden and especially take care of her flowers and raspberry bushes outside and plants inside. For many years we had the annual trip to the mountains to pick raspberries and huckleberries and then make jam. She baked many wedding cakes for friends and family. Mom loved Christmas and was so happy when all her family was together to celebrate. She did her best not to miss an event that her children and grandchildren were in even if this meant traveling from one side of the State to the other.
She was preceded in death by her late husband, Robert William Fochs, her father and her mother, brothers, Walt and John Wrzesinski, and daughter, Lynita King.
She is survived by her husband Herbert Lynn; daughters Amy Anderson (John), Nanette Webber (Jim) Debbie Lynn, Althea Fochs, Julie Wojtowick (Tim), Roberta Olson (Jim); sons Sam Lynn (Pam), Kevin Fochs, John M. Lynn (Leslee) and K.C. Lynn (Patience); brother Charles Wrzesinski; sister Margie Steinbach; 32 grandchildren, 53 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, nearly innumerable!
