Frank Holstein

Frank Holstein, 101, of Harlowton, MT, died on Saturday, October 15, 2022 at the Wheatland Memorial Hospital. Graveside service is pending at the Montana State Veterans Cemetery in Helena, MT. Condolences may be posted on-line at www.perkinsfuneralandcremation.com.

Frank Holstein came to Montana via a circuitous route. He was born in West Virginia on April 5, 1921. He joined the 3C’s as a young man where he stayed for two years and then went into the Army. After his tour in the Army, Frank made his way West. He spent time in California, Idaho, Washington, Texas, and finally settled in Montana. Frank had many jobs along the way. He washed dishes, spray painted tankers, bucked hay and worked horses. Frank worked on several different ranches in Montana before landing at the Bair Ranch Co, where he was a sheepherder in the summer and did the usual ranch jobs in the winter. He worked for the Bair company for about 30 years. Frank would often talk about automobiles taking over for horses, and at 99 years of age, Frank was still doing 25 sit ups and push ups every day.
