Frederick S. "Stan" Cougill III, 64 of Ryegate died unexpectedly Wednesday morning, February 17th, 2021 at his home. He was born April 17, 1956 in Okanogan, WA the son of Frederick Stanley and Doris (Sanderson) Cougill, Jr. He received his education in Washington and Montana graduating from High School in Troy, MT. He then entered the United States Marine Corps and served proudly for over 20 years all over the United States and overseas retiring in the mid 1990's. He returned to Montana settling in Ryegate and began his work as a Blacksmith. He operated his own business Dragon's Fire Forge. Stan worked other jobs over the years but his passion was being a blacksmith.
He was united in marriage to Susan Ballard in Roundup, MT in December of 2005 and they made their home south of Ryegate.
Stan was a proud Life Member of the NRA.
He is survived by his wife Susan of Ryegate, MT; Sons Brandon of Billings, MT and Joe (Deborah) Brabec of Wichita, KS; daughters Tabatha (Ken) Apple in Colorado, Jessica (William) Hackett of Lexington, VA, Jennifer (Gary) Grams of Port Orchard, WA and Kristie (Derrick) Fox of Laurel, MT; father Frederick S. Jr. of Ajo, AZ sisters Kamiah (Clint) Goodwin of Colville, WA and Winoma (Gary) Jellicoe of Bain Bridge Island, WA; 11 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Private Family Services will be held later for Stan, cremation has taken place with the Perkins Funeral Home assisting the family.
