Harry William Klock, 77, of Harlowton, Montana, died Sunday afternoon, December 14, 2025, at Wheatland Memorial Healthcare in Harlowton, surrounded by his family.
Harry was born March 29, 1948, in Lewistown, Montana, the son of George W. and Mary R. (Harper) Klock. He received his education in Harlowton, graduating from Harlowton High School in 1966 and then attending Montana State University, where he received his Bachelor’s Degree in Education in 1970.
Harry was a devoted and loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was united in marriage to Sharyn D. Oliver in Billings on April 28, 1973. Harry and Sharyn had two children, Kyle (Trish) and Danika (Willie). One of Harry’s greatest joys was the time he got to spend with his four grandchildren, Mary, Keira, Willie, and Kellen.
Right out of college, Harry left the family ranch and became a US Forest Service Smokejumper for several years, forming many close bonds with the men he jumped with. From there, he moved back to the family ranch outside Harlowton and continued a life filled with hard work and service to his community and the state of Montana. As he helped work at the family ranch, Harry worked for the Milwaukee Road Railroad as well as bartending off and on for many years at the Stockman Bar. As his love for the Stockman Bar grew, he and Sharyn decided to purchase the bar. In the over 31 years of ownership of the Stockman, Harry’s passion for service grew. He served as a school board member for the Harlowton Schools. He was elected to the Presidency of the Montana Tavern Association. Harry also served as a board member and then as President of the National Tavern Association (ABL). His service in those organizations blossomed into serving two terms in the Montana House of Representatives. If you ask any of the thousands of friends he made over the years, Harry was always firm in his beliefs while still being an open and honest person to all he came across. Harry truly never met a stranger.
Harry is survived by his wife Sharyn (Oliver) Klock of Harlowton, MT; son Kyle (Trish) Klock and grandchildren Keira and Kellen of East Helena, MT, daughter Danika Klock (Willie Hettinger) and grandchildren Mary and Willie of Harlowton, MT; nephews Bill (Kristen) Raaen and family of Great Falls, MT and Jeff (Keta) Raaen of Belgrade, MT; sisters-in-law Kim (Doug) Nissen and family of Harlowton, MT and Pam (Scott) Godfrey of Dillon, MT. Harry is also survived by many extended family members and many friends across the state and country.
He was preceded in death by his parents George and Mary (Harper) Klock, sister Mary Dell (Dennis) Raaen, uncles Leonard Klock and Pete Klock, and niece Tawnya Nissen.
At his request, cremation has taken place, and a Celebration of Life will take place in the spring.
