Jason D. Thomas

February 26, 1977 — March 6, 2021

Jason Daniel Thomas "JD" went peacefully to be with his Lord on March 6, 2021, at the age of 44.   Jason was born on February 26, 1977 in Livingston, MT to Cecil and Sandy Thomas.

Jason grew up riding bikes and playing outdoors with his younger siblings.  He spent many years involved in the Boy Scouts of America going camping and attending jamborees.  Once he discovered Dungeons & Dragons, computers, video games, and Sci-Fi; he was hooked.  As a teenager he would pull apart smaller electronics just to see how everything worked.  Jason joined the Speech and Drama club in high school where his sister introduced him to Rebecca Stewart and he fell in love.  The couple graduated from Park High School in 1996 and married 2 years later.  He and his bride moved to California where Rebecca was attending college.  After graduating they returned to Montana to raise their family.

Their first son, Dante was stillborn in 2002.  Son Cedric was born in 2003, followed by daughter Katarina in 2005 and son Xander in 2008.  His children were the bright lights in his life.  He spent several years working from the home and thoroughly enjoyed spending the extra time with the kids.  He was so very proud of his wife and children.

Jason was a master gamer, spending hours finding every hidden item, and completing every quest.  He enjoyed a wide range of music (not particularly fond of country twang however), movies and Sci-Fi television shows.  Family gatherings often turned into a game on Name That Tune or matching famous quotes to movies.  Over the past several years Jason became very passionate about photography.  He had an eye for finding the beauty in the old, weathered or discarded, but also really enjoyed capturing the plays in the theater, the action of school football and basketball games, or how the light gently touched a beautiful landscape at sunset.  In recent years, he found joy in cooking and teaching his children and nephew a few things in the kitchen.

Jason is lovingly remembered by his wife, Rebecca and his children; Cedric, Katarina and Xander Thomas of Harlowton, MT; his parents, Cecil and Sandy Thomas of Big Timber, MT; His brother Beau (Linda) Thomas and niece, Lorelai; his sister, Sena Estes and nephew James Estes all of Livingston, MT; paternal grandfather Cecil A. Thomas, Sr of Phillipsburg, KS; maternal grandmother Artyce Hoppe of Phillipsburg, KS.

Jason is proceeded in death by infant son Dante Raymond Thomas, grandmother, Clella Thomas and grandfather Meredith "Bud" Forell.

Memorial Service for Jason D. Thomas will be 2:00 pm Sunday, March 21st at Faith Chapel in Harlowton, MT.  A gathering for sharing memories will follow at the Two Dot Bar. Cremation has taken place and committal will be at Mountain View Cemetery in Livingston, MT at a later date.  The Perkins Funeral Home is assisting the family.
